Spell That Name
In today’s online-living world, where social media gives a picture of who we are, it may seem like business cards are long-forgotten. But are they really? Most time when you meet someone new face-to-face you tell them about your website or blog. Then you start spelling the name. Twice, three times – and the person is still not clear what’s the url. Unless you write it down (the faux-pas question comes next: where’s my pen?), your new contact will most likely never see the blog you are so eagerly talking about.
So yes, business cards are still relevant.
In my experience, around 70% of people I meet and who receive my business card, either follow me on social media or subscribe to my newsletter. Yet it doesn’t happen for no reason: the key is to have the business cards always ready. Rather than keeping them in a business card case, I keep them in my wallet which I always carry with me.
Also make sure the design is superb. I use Moo for creating my business cards, even though they’re not the cheapest service you’ll find online. However, you can design everything yourself and the quality is astonishing. From shiny to matt finish and special foils, Moo will make you stand out.
How To Do It
One of my customers used this tip and ordered about 200 business cards. When she started her blog, she would go out and do a lot of networking. Literally anytime she met someone, she would hand them her business card and ask them to follow her. Although it wasn’t the only method she was using, in 3 months she acquired 1,000 followers on Facebook. Sounds good enough to me, what do you think?
