You love writing for your blog but lately your blogging routine is rather boring – we’ve all been there. Well, I have some news for you: your routine needs to shake up! Although routines are great because they keep you on track, staying too long in one without a break or small change will lead to stagnation.
Here I have compiled 10 inspiring tips for you that have worked for me and never failed to make me fall in blogging again.
Change Your Space
Your chair at the desk. On your desk two things – a cup of coffee and your computer. Maybe a decoration and some papers. And it’s always been like this and it hasn’t changed for at least a year. I have some news for you: your blogging space needs a refresher. So, redecorate. Move your desk around (my favourite one). Or blog from the kitchen. Sometimes even the smallest change will help.
Find A New Coffee Shop
So you’ve been stuck going to one single place all the time? I’m also guilty of that. I know what it’s like to find your best match – you know the barista, you know what music to expect, and most importantly, you know your favourite cup of joe. Finding a new place can look daunting – but it’s so rewarding! The new environment will wire up your brain and stimulate your creative process. And by the way, you may as well discover your favourite new blend.
Turn Around Your Usual Time
Are you a morning person? Many people usually respond they’re not. If you’re one of them, I have a challenge for you: start getting up at 6am to write. Yes, you’ve heard me right. I remember a time when I was desperate to do some writing, yet evenings didn’t work for me. Every time I sat down to write, I closed my laptop and went to sleep because I was too tired. Then I decided, I don’t even know why, to get up at 5am and do writing the first thing in the morning. Not only had I delivered what I promised, I also got my precious sleep early in the evening and got up fresh.
Get A New Blog Theme
If you’re bored with your blog, sometimes a change of the layout can make wonders. I have recently switched the theme on my blog HanaJayWrites.com to theme by Themify.me and it’s done wonders. I now enjoy blogging a lot more.
Set A Deadline
It may seem like a complete nonsense to make your blogging routine even more stressful, but it works. Sometimes you just have too much time and you need a deadline. So set one and then watch the time ticking by!
Find A Buddy
Sometimes it’s hard to make a promise to yourself to deliver a new blog piece week by week. That’s why you need a buddy. It should be someone like you: a blogger or at least someone creative. Did you just say you don’t know anyone like that? Okay, I got that sorted for you. Join my Facebook group Zero to Blog Coffee Shop and post the question. I’m sure someone will love to support you.
Lately I’ve found interesting interviewing people for my blog posts. I requires a different skill set and intention, but it’s totally worth it. Your blogging routine can get a little bit “sad” if you blog all the time alone. So get some people on board. I promise it will bring the energy you’re missing!
Visit A Bookshop
In the age of internet, bookshops have become a forgotten gem of inspiration. Yet they’re absolutely perfect for spicing up your blogging routine, because not only they have books, most of them today have coffee shops too. When these two things marry, blogging becomes easy again.
Write From Abroad
Or different city, town, village. Take a train or bus early in the morning and enjoy the ride. You can also blog on the plane or on the train – in fact, many people claim they’re more productive while commuting. Then take a stroll in the new place. Finally, find the best rated coffee shop and get your hands on it. Final tip? Book Airbnb for a week somewhere in the middle of nowhere (but with wifi) and become the world’s most productive blogger ever.
Don’t Write At All
Surprise! You didn’t expect this one, did you? But I’m serious here – no writing is better than struggling to write at least something. Sometimes the best way to boost your blogging routine is to have a break. My suggestion is you take one at least a week every three months. You can still pre-schedule your blog posts. But not writing them for a week will give you freedom to look around for new ideas and continue more powerfully than before.
